Faux Wood Columns & Beams @ Silverspot Cinema (Brookfield, WI)

RM wraps was hired by Bull City Designs to wrap several subjects at the Silverspot Cinema in Brookfield, Wisconsin in early summer 2019 when the cinema was first being built. In this post, we’ll focus on the faux wood columns and ceiling beams.

Step 1 - Production

These beams and columns were first constructed off-site at BCD’s shop in North Carolina. Randy flew down in mid-May and spent about a week working with their crew, wrapping each piece as they rolled off the assembly line. The two patterns used were Belbien wood grain SW-127 and wood grain SW-140 architectural finishes. Check out the process in the videos and photos below.

Step 2 - On-site Repairs & Additional Installation

After all the beams were produced and wrapped, they were transported from North Carolina all the way to the job site in Brookfield, WI. Unsurprisingly, the beams didn’t make the almost-900 mile trip completely unscathed, and there was a bit of stripping, repairing, and rewrapping work to be done on some of the beams. Luckily we were already scheduled to be on-site in mid-June to wrap the lobby ceiling (see Part 1 of this blog series) and a few smaller pieces, so we extended our stay and completed all the repair work with the beams in-place (we made many, many, many up-and-down trips on the scissor lift). Ultimately 2 of us were on-site for about 4 days.

Why Choose Architectural Finishes over traditional materials?

  • Aesthetic Versatility

Architectural films offer an incredible range of patterns and finishes that can mimic the look and feel of various materials such as wood, stone, metal, and fabric. This means you can achieve a customized and upscale appearance without the high costs of using traditional materials. Whether you want a sleek modern look, a rustic wooden finish, or a luxurious marble effect, architectural finishes have you covered. It allows you to align your physical space with your brand's aesthetics and create a visually appealing space that leaves a memorable impression on visitors.

  • Cost-Effective Solution

Traditional new-builds or renovations can be costly and disruptive to your business operations. Architectural finishes provide a budget-friendly alternative. Moreover, the installation process is quick, which means minimal downtime, ensuring that your business can continue to function smoothly.

  • Durability and Longevity

Architectural finishes are engineered to withstand the rigors of daily use and maintain their appearance over time. They are resistant to scratches, stains, and fading, which means they will continue to look stunning and professional even in high-traffic areas. The films iare also easy to clean and maintain, ensuring that your investment remains in top condition for years to come.

  • Eco-Friendly Choice

Sustainability is a growing concern for many businesses. Architectural finishes are a sustainable choice as they allow you to repurpose and refresh existing furniture and fixtures, reducing the need for new materials and minimizing waste.
