Smart Package Locker Wraps @ University of Oregon
We were hired by Smiota to print and install full-coverage vinyl graphic wraps on the new smart package pickup lockers in the Global Scholars Hall at the University of Oregon in Eugene in the second half of 2025.
The entire project was printed on 3M IJ180c vinyl with matching 8520 matte lamination. From the project we installed 2 years ago, we and the school learned that the students and faculty could be a bit rough on the vinyl over time - so, an additional protective “kick-plate” layer of ultra-thick, ultra-tough GF 238 MotoMark Armor was added to the bottom 6” of the locker bodies, as well as rubberized edge corner protectors were added to the exposed outside corners. Both protective solutions have a high-gloss finish that didn’t perfectly match with the matte-finished wrap graphics, but overall they blended in pretty well and created minimal distraction from the main graphics (check them out close-up in the video below).
We worked back and forth with the designer for the better part of a month, printing and shipping various proofs, fine-tuning measurements, adjusting graphic placement as changes to the physical layout occured, sampling and prototyping the additional protective measures, etc. There were a lot of details to get right, and we basically had one shot - the project was 8 hours away from our shop by car, so if anything was made incorrectly, we couldn’t just print a fix and show up with it the next morning. Everything came together and we installed the entire project in the first week of November. Overall the installation of the wraps took about 60 man-hours with 2 sets of hands.
