Bombardier Challenger 604 Interior Wrap
Randy was hired to wrap the interior wood surfaces in this Bombardier Challenger 604 in the summer of 2024.
The surfaces themselves were in good shape, but the clear coat finish on most of the wood had severe sun damage that had caused it to turn an unsightly milky white. The clear coat had remained structurally sound though, so no major work needed to be done stripping that old clear coat finish - the wrap was simply applied right over top.
As much of the plane interior was disassembled/removed as possible, to make installation as quick and easy as possible. Still, even with almost everything removed, and the relatively small size of the aircraft, the install took Randy 8 full days to complete. Below is a full walk through of the plane done at the end of the project, showing close-ups of the intricate work done to give this aircraft interior a fresh, contemporary feel.
Overall, the project used all but 4 or 5 feet of a full 4’ x 164’ roll of 3M Di-Noc WG-1364 wood grain architectural film. This is cutting it closer than we usually like to run things - not only for insurance that a project can still be completed if a mishap occurs and some material needs to be wasted, but also because it’s usually a good idea to keep some of the material on-hand after a project is complete, in case there are any future repairs. Slight differences can happen between production batches, so it’s best to have all the material for a project ordered at the same time, including “backup” material, to ensure everything matches. 3M Di-Noc has a shelf life of 2 years (but from our experience, can still be usable ~3-4 years after purchase, depending on storage conditions).

The films are durable and lightweight, and making them ideal for aircraft interiors.
The Process: Quick, Efficient, and Stunning
Randy meticulously documents every step of the project, capturing the entire process through photos and videos. These visuals highlight the speed and efficiency with which the interior was transformed. From start to finish, the project was completed in a matter of days, a fraction of the time it would take for a traditional interior refit.
Before and After: The blog is rich with before-and-after pictures that illustrate the dramatic change. Cabinets that once appeared worn and outdated are now sleek and modern. The walls, previously dull, now exude a fresh, contemporary vibe. Randy's expert touch ensures that every detail is flawlessly executed, leaving no room for imperfection.
The Wrapping Technique: Randy shares his technique in the accompanying videos, offering a step-by-step guide on how he applies the 3M Di-Noc film to various surfaces within the jet. He starts with the most challenging areas, such as curved surfaces, to ensure a perfect fit. His methodical approach guarantees that the film adheres smoothly, without bubbles or imperfections, showcasing the true quality of the material.
Time and Cost Efficiency
One of the most significant advantages of using 3M Di-Noc films is the time and cost efficiency. Randy charges by the day, and because the application process is so quick, the overall cost remains highly competitive compared to traditional refurbishment methods. This speed does not come at the expense of quality; instead, it allows for a high-end finish that stands the test of time.
Final Walkthrough
At the end of the project, Randy takes you on a walkthrough of the jet's newly revamped interior. His pride in the work is palpable as he points out the subtle details that elevate the overall look. From the seamless transitions between panels to the precision of the cuts around hardware, every aspect of the installation reflects Randy's commitment to excellence.
This private jet interior project is a testament to the transformative power of 3M Di-Noc architectural films. It shows that luxury doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag or lengthy downtime. With skilled professionals like Randy at the helm, even the most exclusive spaces can be rejuvenated quickly and beautifully. Whether you're looking to modernize your jet or simply update its look, architectural films offer a versatile and efficient solution.
